Erica Tompkins is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) currently practicing in the state of California. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Hope International University and her Master of Science in Professional Psychology from Grand Canyon University, graduating summa cum laude.

During her graduate training, Erica worked with a wide range of populations to build a strong foundation in mental health care. She gained experience in a Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), where she supported individuals in recovery by integrating mind, body, and spirit approaches to healing. Her work emphasized healthy daily routines such as exercise, mindful eating, and building supportive relationships. She also participated in community outreach efforts to raise awareness about substance use and facilitated educational workshops for families.

Following graduate school, Erica continued her passion for advocacy by working in family-based treatment using Functional Family Therapy (FFT/FFT-CW). In this role, she collaborated closely with families, child protective services, schools, and local law enforcement to help children and families access appropriate mental health care and improve family functioning.

She later transitioned into providing individual, family, and group therapy through a nonprofit organization serving homeless veterans. There, Erica received extensive training in trauma-informed care and worked with adults experiencing moderate to high levels of psychological distress. Her clinical focus included supporting veterans transitioning from active duty, addressing substance use recovery, processing trauma, and navigating the challenges of reintegration into civilian life. She utilized evidence-based approaches to provide psychoeducation and teach practical skills such as communication, problem-solving, emotion regulation, goal setting, and managing life transitions.

Erica went on to work at a Residential Treatment Center (RTC), where she obtained her licensure as a Professional Clinical Counselor. She provided care for individuals with high-acuity mental health needs, offering diagnostic support, intensive trauma-focused therapy, and collaboration with psychiatric providers for medication management. Her work emphasized symptom stabilization, skill development, and long-term recovery planning.

While working in residential treatment, Erica received specialized training and certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS). She provided individual, group, and family therapy using a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET).

Erica specializes in working with active duty service members, veterans, and individuals navigating major life transitions. She approaches therapy with the belief that each person is unique and possesses innate resilience. Her work is collaborative and strengths-based, helping clients build upon their existing abilities while developing new tools for healing and growth. Treatment is always tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of each client.
